MY HIP HURTS!

The hip joint is large ball-and-socket joint. It is designed to remain stable, even though it may be twisting and turning through extreme ranges of motion, and bearing weight at the same time. A healthy hip joint will not hurt, even if you are squatting, turning and jumping. However, a damaged joint may hurt even if you are lying down! Osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis, fractures or necrosis (reduced blood supply) of the bone are all reasons for pain and stiffness in the hip joint. Hip fractures may occur as a result of osteoporosis (thinning and weakening of the bones).

Whatever the cause, hip problems slow you down! It is highly recommended you pay a visit to an orthopaedic surgeon who will be able to evaluate your condition and offer different treatment options. Learn as much as you can and get yourself back up to speed as soon as possible!
