Send Marshall Steele an email

Dr. Steele retired from seeing patients in March 2006. He began his practice in Annapolis in 1977 when he first established The Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center. While in medical practice, Dr. Steele specialized in the treatment of knee problems, arthroscopic knee surgery, and arthritis surgery for patients needing hip and knee joint replacements.

He remains strongly active within the medical community in a consulting capacity regarding the establishment of a new comprehensive musculoskeletal institute. Dr. Steele currently speaks nationally and internationally regarding the "Joint Camp" concept for adult reconstructive surgery. His special interests are twofold: designing systems to improve patient care within the private practice, hospital and outpatient settings; and public education.

He was founder and co-director of the Maryland Knee and Hip Center which gives informational seminars to the public about knee and hip problems. Other positions he has held include Directorship of the Center for Joint Replacement, and Director of Surgical Services at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

In 1995 he authored a book, "Sideline Help - A Guide to Immediate Evaluation and Care of Sports Injuries," which provides common valuable guidelines for coaches and trainers dealing with initial evaluation and treatment of injuries common amongst athletes. In 1989, Governor Schaefer honored him with an appointment to the Maryland State Commission for Physical Fitness.

Dr. Steele trained in medicine at the University of Maryland. His post-graduate training was done at the University of Virginia, Harvard University, and in the U.S. Navy.
