Dr. Verklin came to Annapolis with strong credentials in knee surgery and sports medicine, and joined The Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center in 1984. His interest lies in the specialty of arthroscopic knee surgery and sports medicine. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Verklin grew up as an active swimmer, golfer, and skier and he continues to enjoy these activities today.

Dr. Verklin graduated with his medical degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his residency in Orthopaedics at the University of Michigan. After a broad exposure to college athletics and sports medicine in the Big Ten, he completed a post-graduate fellowship year in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Verklin has served as the Chief of Orthopaedics at Anne Arundel Medical Center, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Fellow of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, a member of the American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society, a member of the International Society of Arthroscopy Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, a consultant for the Severn River Rugby Club, and Team Physician for the Severn School. Additionally, he has served as a youth soccer and lacrosse coach for Greater Arnold Recreational Council, and speaks regularly at Anne Arundel County School and Recreational league sports medicine seminars.

Dr. Verklin lives in Annapolis with his wife, Jennifer, and three children.
